W. John Dawson, FCA Mr. Dawson
graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1964 with a B. Comm. degree in Accounting.
He obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1966 and was a partner in a major international
accounting firm from 1972 until his retirement in 2001. During his 37 years in public accounting,
Mr. Dawson was involved primarily in national and international client matters. He was a member of the
firm's Partnership Board from 1982 to 1994. Mr. Dawson has served as the President of the B.C. Institute
of Chartered Accountants from 1998 to 1999 and has served on the boards of several community and charitable
organizations. He is also a director and trustee of two other Canadian income funds.
Jack P. Edwards Mr. Edwards is the Chief Operating Officer of The Broe Companies of Denver, Colorado.
He was formerly a director of Laidlaw Inc., a provider of contract bus services, inter-city and tourist bus services and healthcare transportation; the
President and Chief Executive Officer of Worldpoint Logistics Inc., a
transportation logistics company; and the President and Chief Executive
Officer of Danzas Corporation (North America), a worldwide transportation
company. Mr. Edwards has a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology,
University of California and Masters in Marketing, University of Oregon.
John T. Goldsmith Mr. Goldsmith has been a Director of Westminster Savings Credit Union since 1997 and currently is Chair
of the Investment and Lending committee of the Board. In 2002 he was elected as a Director to the Board
of Stabilization Central Credit Union, BC, an organization having shared responsibility for risk in the $30
Billion provincial credit union system. Mr. Goldsmith was a Director and Chairman of British
Columbia Railway Corporation. Mr. Goldsmith is also the president, director and controlling shareholder of
a consulting company and a retail company. Mr. Goldsmith was with a major Canadian chartered bank for
23 years, where he held various senior management positions and earned an Executive Development
degree from the University of Western Ontario business school in 1988.
T. Richard Turner, Chairman of the Board of Directors
Mr. Turner is the President and Chief Executive Officer of TitanStar Capital Corp., a private company engaged in
the provision of private equity capital to mid-sized businesses and capital for real estate developments and acquisitions.
His other current Board positions include Trustee of Sunrise Senior
Living Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:SZR.U); Director of Sora Group Wealth Advisors Inc.; Chair and director of the Insurance
Corporation of British Columbia; and Chair of Board of Trade.com Network Solutions. Mr. Turner is additionally a Director and Audit
Committee Member of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympics Winter Games (VANOC); Hearing Member on the Transportation Appeal
Tribunal of Canada; Governor of the BC Business Council; and a past Chair and Governor of the Vancouver Board of Trade.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
Mitchell J. Weaver, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Weaver joined Sun Gro in June 1997 as President. He led a major reorganization effort focused on increased profitability.
As part of this effort, the business was decentralized into individual profit centres, corporate overhead was reduced and sales
were targeted to the professional growers market. Prior to joining Sun Gro U.S., he worked for Weyerhaeuser Company for 16 years.
During his time with Weyerhaeuser, Mr. Weaver worked in a number of successively more senior management positions. His last assignment
with Weyerhaeuser was as General Manager of the packaging operation in Salinas, California, where he was responsible for all aspects
of the business, with annual sales in excess of $100 million. Mr. Weaver graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.
John Zaplatynsky
Mr. Zaplatynsky is the President and CEO of Canada Garden Works Ltd, one of Canada's largest
independently owned and operated retail garden centre companies with ten locations in British Columbia.
He has also been active in numerous industry trade groups as well as serving as a director for several privately
held companies. Mr. Zaplatynsky holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Manitoba.
